Thierry Mugler (RIP 1945 - 2022) -- was a French fashion designer hoping for his name to be seen more as a brand for its time, and to have space and peace to focus on his last passion -- bodybuilding.

Born in 1948, Manfred Thierry Mugler loved to draw and grew accomplished in classical dance and design. In his twenties, he found himself swept into the surge of revolutionary artists gathering in 1970s Paris. Apprenticing at Gudule Boutique, or sewing leather and PVC for Café de Paris (1973), Mugler stayed busy bringing his futuristic visions to life, more boldly with the launch of The Thierry Mugler Label in 1974.

The brand celebrated its 10th anniversary in 1984 with the famous Paris Zenith show.

Rising as one of the most influential designers of the 80s and 90s, Mugler created ethereal, erotic looks, and science fiction couture.

 

 

Mugler's first "Gourmand" perfume, perfumes that smell edible, launched in 1992 with the first cologne was released in '96. Delicious hints of vanilla, cotton candy, and patchouli make for these highly distinctive fragrances. 

Mugler's brand is now lead by the new creative director, Casey Cadwallader, and Mugler remains a favorite among impactful artists such as Lady Gaga, Hunter Schafer, Bella Hadid, and Beyonce.
