Creating Dirt-Cheap Custom Labels with Generative AI

Creating Dirt-Cheap Custom Labels with Generative AI

Concept

Start with a concept. The theme of this demonstration was "Pimp My Ride," a candle campaign to raise funds for auto repairs.

There are 3 central repairs needed: AC compressor (Chill Blaster), sway bar brushings (Sway Bar), and new tires (Grip Reaper).

Every repair needs a fragrance palette to represent in candle-format, so the retrospective blends are Black Ice & Lavender, Gunmetal & Blackberry, and Petrichor, Rum & Leather.

Clipart

Generate clipart relevant to the concept. For these candles, a grungy auto with ice and lavender was generated for Chill Blaster, a rusty sway bar with blackberries and jester for Sway Bar, and a grim reaper with tires for Grip Reaper.

Format

Next, create a draft in an editor like Canva that can easily remove backgrounds and cut your clipart. Add chosen font, then formate to your ambience.

Revise

Upload the drafts into an image generator like Grok to improve. Ask the generator to customize your draft to your liking. For the Pimp my Ride labels, Grok's generator updated the font with a personalized, raw, and rustic look.

It takes time to work through the steps, but much less than creating the output completely by yourself. You can generate ideal images in gen-AI without losing creative participation and originality using this technique. It is dirt-cheap and an excellent way to create more affordability and promptly.

Print

You can make your own labels at home with an inkjet printer and glossy adhesive sticker paper. Size your labels appropriately using an app like Canva, then seal them with a glossy sealant like Modge Podge for a non-bleed shine.

Companies like Avery also offer affordable printing services if you want to save time and ink.

How can you use AI to improve your business or project? JJ's labels were made for pennies and took less than an hour to produce. Using gen-AI helps the project achieve a clearer direction for art and marketing with less expense.
